I’m Allie! The girl you’ll find behind the lens at Lysia Cole Photography.

Let’s start with my name!

Lot’s of people think my name is ‘Lysia’ and they aren’t wrong.

My full name is actually Alysia (Ah-lee-see-uh) and the decision to shorten it came from how it has been consistantly mispronounced most of my life.

I loved that it was different but still me and it became a bonus that most people now pronounce it the way it’s supposed to be!

Cole is short for ‘Colton’ who is our black lab that we had welcomed to our family just a few months before I started taking on clients.

Why did I choose to specialize in Newborns & Family?

I grew up in a very large family which was the guiding light for my decision to focus on newborns, children and families.

While my educational background may be working with the elderly in long term care, my love for snuggling newborns and interacting with children was evident at a young age.

Over the years I have photographed hundreds of newborns and taken numerous workshops from world renowned photographers that had a core focus on safety.

I love that I am able to capture images that will tell your story in a way that you will treasure for a lifetime. While my cozy in home studio is located in Waterdown, you can also find me working magic in my clients homes and at outdoor locations around Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton and the GTA.

What’s in my bag?

To be honest, not much!

I shoot with a Canon R6 and pretty much live with my Sigma 50mm on it. I also carry along my Sigma 35mm, Canon 24-70mm and my Canon 70-200mm with me along with extra batteries and memory cards but that’s about it. I’m a simple girl.

My in-home studio houses quite the beautiful prop collection and is continually growing. Tiebacks, hats, buckets, layers, I could go on forever. I even offer clothing for children and adults!

Fun Facts

My husband James and I have been together for 14 years (married 8).

I’m a mama to two adorable kiddos (Charlie and Rory), lover of leggings, Birkenstocks, cozy sweaters and anything with a hipster/boho vibe. This girl is a yarn addict who proudly sports a mom bun and no makeup 98% of the time (despite what you see in these pictures lol). 

You can usually find me attempting DIY craft projects, crocheting stuffed animals, binging Netflix, Prime or Disney+ and hiding out behind my iMac.

I’ve always been creative and artsy even as a child.

I am an Accredited and Qualified Newborn Photographer recognized by APNPI (Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International).
